Yet, a deeper look at the text reveals subtle mysteries. When listing the eight specific forbidden creatures, the Torah begins, "This is for you the impure" — in singular form — as if these alone are the essence of impurity. But then, oddly, after naming them, it says again, "These are impure to you", now in plural. Why the repetition? What’s being added? Furthermore, once the Torah establishes that any creature that creeps is forbidden, why break it down into specifics — those that crawl on necks, walk on four legs, or on many legs? Isn’t the defining trait their creeping nature? What lies beneath this structure? Perhaps the Torah isn’t only listing dietary laws — it’s revealing the secret of spiritual boundaries, how impurity begins with one small thing, creeping in slowly… until it multiplies.
