The secret of the Shechinah At the beginning of the parashah the Torah calls the sanctuary “משכן העדות”—the Mishkan of testimony. Yet once Moshe Rabbeinu erects it, the Torah suddenly refers to it as “אוהל מועד”—the Tent of Meeting. Are these simply two names for the same structure, or is the Torah hinting to different dimensions of the Mishkan? The question becomes sharper in the closing pesukim. The Torah says “וכסה הענן את אוהל מועד”—the cloud covered the Ohel Mo’ed—but immediately afterward “וכבוד ה' מלא את המשכן”—the glory of Hashem filled the Mishkan. If they are the same place, why the change in terminology? Adding to the mystery is the phrase “משכן העדות”, where “העדת” is written without a ו. What exactly is the “testimony” of the Mishkan, and why is it hinted to in this unusual spelling? And why does the Torah conclude the accounting with “אשר פקד על פי משה”—which was counted according to Moshe—something we already know from the earlier parshiyos? Join the shiur as we uncover—through the teachings of Chazal, the Zohar, and the Arizal—the deeper meaning behind these shifting names of the Mishkan, and the powerful message they reveal about the dwelling of the שכינה among כלל ישראל. ✨ Shiur by Rabbi Fridmann — Badatz Miami 📖 www.badatzmiami.com
