Hear Our Voice (Sh’ma Koleinu)

This week was my grandmother’s yahrzeit, and I’ve been thinking about how every year before the High Holidays she would ask me to think of her when we reached the words: Al tashlikheinu l’et ziknah - “Do not cast us off in old age.” As Elul begins, I’m sharing this prayer with memory, love, and hope - for her, for my family, and for all of us preparing to enter these Days of Awe together.
