This song came out of Selichos. There's a line we say: Kel Melech yosheiv al kisei rachamim, misnaheg ba'chassidus, that Hashem conducts Himself with chassidus. Not with strict justice, not by the numbers. With chassidus. That's a big ask. We're basically saying: go past what we've earned. Be generous where You could be exacting. And Chazal give us the other half of it. Eizehu chassid? Hamis'chassed im kono. Who's a chassid? Someone who does chassidus with his Creator. It's an invitation. The same way we want Hashem to relate to us that way, we get to relate to Him that way too. Being a chassid is a direction you're pointed in. Extra love for the Torah, extra love for a Yid, extra love for Hashem. More patience than the situation really calls for. More forgiveness, more tolerance, more understanding than our nature would give on its own. Giving people the same generosity we're asking Hashem to give us. And it's not only about people. It's about how we do our Yiddishkeit too. There's a way to do it where you check the boxes and you're done, and there's a way where you're always looking a little deeper. Always trying to find that spark of Hashem hiding in a regular moment, and hi
