Some of the ways to introduce a non‑observant Jew to TorahMates is to bring up whether the person has ever received a Jewish education. If the answer is negative, you can ask: “How would you like the opportunity to receive a Jewish education—free of charge—and taking no more than a half hour a week?” With all the concern about the increase of antisemitism these days, it is natural to wonder: What does it even mean to be a Jew? If people may hate you for being Jewish, shouldn’t you at least know what it is all about? Explain that TorahMates is the opportunity to explore Judaism with a religious mentor—someone who can study with them and help them understand what Judaism truly is.
