Remaining steadfast in faith despite the influences of the surrounding society, is a question that pertains to all religious people. Whether one is in college, in the workplace, or elsewhere, there is a continual challenge as to how one shall remain strong in one's religious values while living in an environment that may not always be accepting of such beliefs. One of the first steps toward facing this challenge is trying one's best to live in a Jewish environment, be it a Jewish college or community. For a person going to a non-Jewish college, it is important to have the right books to read, to associate with the right company, and to remain in touch with an Orthodox rabbi for guidance. One must also be cautious that any Jewish platform followed online is rooted in authentic Judaism and not in sources that claim to be Jewish while promoting ideas and philosophies that are inconsistent with Jewish values and beliefs.
