We Need God, But Does God Need Us? | Ask the Rabbi Live with Rabbi Chaim Mintz
70 views · 3 days ago · Chassidus, Jewish Inspiration
God needs us not for His own sake, but for our benefit. This need is not the result of God seeking to fill a void, as is the case with human need. Rather, God desires to bestow goodness upon others, and for that there must be recipients. Thus, God does not need us to remedy any lack within Himself, for He is utterly without deficiency. Rather, He "needs" us in the sense that His desire to give of His goodness, which requires beings capable of receiving that goodness.
