Lost Princess (ep 9) - All The Problems of the World

Shalom Aleichem Chevra, welcome back to the Lost Princess series! What if the palace the Viceroy walks into isn't a fairy tale setting — but literally the world you and I are living in right now? In this episode we dive deep into one of the most mind-bending moments in Rebbe Nachman's Lost Princess story — the Viceroy walking into the msar, the palace. We unpack why Rebbe Nachman chose that specific word, and what it means in Yiddish: a schloss, something locked. Because that's exactly what this world is. It looks beautiful, organized, full of music and food and pleasant things — but it's all shav and hevel, falsehood and emptiness. We spend real time sitting with that famous pasuk from Mishlei — sheker hachen v'hevel hayofi — and what it actually means when the world can make something completely false look absolutely gorgeous and full of charm. We talk about the second king in the palace — the impostor king — and why his presence is so troubling once you realize this story is the story of all creation. Hashem is the King from the beginning of the story. So who is this other crowned king strutting around? An impostor. A complete fraud. And yet everything around him looks totally real and legitimate. That's the chein of the shav — the grace of falsehood — and we see it everywhere, from abstract art going for millions of dollars to the bread and circuses that keep people distracted and locked inside the schloss without ever going deeper. Then we get to the really powerful piece: the bashelik, the lost princess, is inside this palace. She's in this world. And the reason the impostor kingdom has any power at all is because it's drawing its energy from her — from the captive. Once we extract her, the whole false kingdom dissolves like smoke. That's the Jewish mission, the plan we talk about on Rosh Hashana. And Yom Kippur is actually the moment when the shav and hevel melt away completely — no eating, no drinking, none of the palace distractions — and you come face to face with the princess inside yourself. We also talk about how to stay on the journey and not let the giants in your life — even well-meaning people — convince you to stop looking for the bashelik and just keep your face in the book.
