Insights into the Weekly Haftorah - Mishpatim

The first subject in the weekly portion is of Hebrew bondsman and likewise the Book of Jeremiah speaks of the same subject. The prophet in God's name informs the people because they have not followed Jewish law and treated the bondsman unfairly the measure for measure result would cause Israel to go into exile and the Temple to be destroyed. Unfortunately the people do not change their ways and the warning was fulfilled. Nonetheless at the end of the Haftarah, God promises never to abandon the Jewish people and that at the right time they would be brought back to their Homeland.
