Yet tragedy struck when Uzza tried to save the ark from falling off the wagon and died on the spot. It was actually David's mistake of not having the Levites carry the ark as they were supposed to. Thus the ark was only brought up later but when it was it was with tremendous celebration led by King David. His wife thought he had acted in a frivolous manner and the story describes her rebuke and his defense. David then proposes to build a temple as a fitting place to house the ark and the Tabernacle. God responds by telling the prophet Natan that God not only approved but would make David's kingship last for all generations.
