Insights into the Weekly Haftorah - Eikev

It is the second in a series of seven consecutive Haftorahs whose theme is consolation, as these prophetic readings follow the fast day of Tisha B'Av when consolation is much needed. In this week's Haftarah the prophet emphasizes that despite exile and impending destruction God will never abandon His people and in the future will bring them back to the Holy Land which will turn into a virtual Garden of Eden.
