The Rosh Hashanah Without a Shofar
134 views · 5 days ago · Holidays, Chabad
The shofar stands at the very heart of Rosh Hashanah. Through its cry, we crown Hashem as King and awaken a new Divine desire for creation. Yet when Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbos, we put the shofar down. How can the most important sound of Rosh Hashanah suddenly become unnecessary? The Rebbe reveals that the absence of the shofar is not a deficiency at all. On Shabbos, what we normally struggle to awaken from below is already revealed from Above. But the fact that the shofar was still sounded in the Beis HaMikdash reveals something even deeper: there are heights that Hashem gives us—and there are even greater heights that can only be reached through our own action
