Lost Princess (ep 6) - Your Evil Inclination & Challenges

Hey friends! What's up Chevra?! What if every wall standing between you and your mission — every guard, every fortress, every "I can never do this" — was something you built yourself? In this episode of the Lost Princess series, we dive deep into one of the most powerful turning points in Rebbe Nachman's story. The Shaliach Hamelech, our viceroy hero, has been wandering for a very long time trying to find the lost princess. He finally spots a small path off to the side — and that little detour changes everything. We talk about what it means to try something different when the regular path isn't working, while still staying connected to the community and not going rogue just for the sake of it. Then comes the moment that stops us cold: he arrives at this massive, fortified palace — soldiers everywhere, totally intimidating — and instead of turning back, he simply says, "Let me just try." He leaves his horse behind and walks straight in. Nobody stops him. Not a single person. And that leads us into one of the most quoted pieces in all of mussar — the Gemara about Rabban Gamliel and the Beit Midrash, and the idea that the guards were never really there. We made them up. The Yetzer Hara is like that big king in Kohelet who surrounds the small city, which is your body, and builds all these siege works around you. But a poor wise man — the Yetzer Tov — saves the city, even if nobody remembers him. We also bring the incredible Mashal about the king who built walls for his people, with music and delicacies on every level — and only the young boy who simply said "Tateh" and reached out his hand made it to the other side, only to find there were no walls at all. They had vanished. That is exactly what we see in the palace of the no-good one. All the limitations — "I could never wake up for Netz, I could never put a blocker on my phone, I could never learn to read Hebrew" — those are the gates we are building in our own minds. The Chevra, the viceroy's move right here is the move. Let me just try. That shift changes everything.
