Hey friends! What's up Chevra?! If the body is such a gift from the King, why does the viceroy leave his horse behind — and what does that mean for our own journey to find the Lost Princess? In this episode of the Lost Princess series, we dig into one of the most striking moments in Rebbe Nachman's story: the viceroy leaving his horse outside before entering the palace of the no-good one. We ask the obvious question — don't we believe in using the body in the service of Hashem? Why would he leave it behind? And the answer opens up something really deep about the relationship between body and soul. We explore how the kabbalists teach that the ultimate shleimus, the final completion of all of reality, is actually the resurrection of the dead — body and soul reunited forever. The body is not the enemy. The sus, the stallion, is a gift from the King. But right now, in this part of the journey, if the body is running the show, we are never going to find the lost princess. The neshama, the emunah, the davening — she is out there waiting, and we cannot navigate to her if the body's desires and obsessions have hijacked our consciousness. So what does it look like in practice to leave the horse behind — even temporarily? We talk about the tinas arev, the idea of putting your fork down between bites, the fast days that appear before every Yom Tov, sleeping a little less when the alarm goes off. None of this is about deprivation or hurting the body, God forbid. It is about loosening the stranglehold just enough so that the saddik inside of us can go find her. The horse stays outside — but he is coming back. And when he does, the body will finally serve the soul the way it was always meant to.
