Exposing Jewish Money Secrets 🚨💰

Shalom Aleichem Chevra, so great to have you here with us! What if the secret to real wealth was literally carved into the Second Tablets — and Moshe Rabbeinu himself got rich in the process? In this shiur we dive deep into one of the most stunning ideas in the Garra around the pasuk 'Pesol Lecha' — carve out for yourself the Second Tablets. The word 'pesal' doesn't just mean to carve, it connects to the shavings, the rejected outer material that Moshe removed to reveal the tablets inside. And here's the jaw-dropping part: Chazal tell us that Moshe became fabulously wealthy from those very shavings. The word 'mammon' — money — is actually encoded in the dimensions and the carvings of the Luchos themselves. So wealth and Torah are not opposites. They were literally born together from the same stone. We explore how the greatest transmitters of Torah — from Rebi Yehuda HaNasi, who had a table that made the Waldorf look like scraps, to the Rebbe who wore golden slippers with no soles on the bottom — had access to everything this world offers, and used it entirely as a hakdama, an introduction, to get to the real thing. Like Michelangelo finding David already inside the rejected stone from the quarry, or the aravah, the most rejected of the four species, ending up on top of the aravos on Hoshana Raba — the lowest things go highest. That's the whole pattern. We also unpack the structure of learning itself through this lens. Every mashal, every story, every Batman or Patty Mahomes reference, that's all the shavings — the hakdama — the outer material that draws you in so you can eventually arrive at the tablets, the etzem. The Ashirus, the wealth, is the entry point. But you can't stop there and start a business with the shavings while the Luchos are sitting in the corner. Shimon bar Yochai showed his talmidim a valley filled with falling gold coins and said, take whatever you want — just know you won't have it in the world to come. That's the whole thing right there. And we close looking forward — because the nevuos describe the days of Mashiach as a time of unimaginable wealth, and that wealth is the ultimate hakdama to a world where everyone is learning Torah and drawing close to Hashem. The shavings of this whole era of history are preparing us for the tablets of what comes next.
