The Halachos of laundry during the Nine Days are surprisingly detailed - and surprisingly strict. The Gemara in Taanis (25b) and Shulchan Aruch 551 lay out the clear prohibition: even doing laundry for after the Nine Days is generally Assur. The Issur is not just wearing freshly laundered clothing - it's the act of Kibbus itself. This includes your clothing, linens, towels, and even things like upholstery and couch covers. But not everything is considered a Beged. The Poskim define three categories that fall under the Issur — and once you know them, you’ll see what does and doesn’t apply.
