Can You Make Early Shabbos on Shavuos This Year? | Daily Halacha #105
647 views · 3 months ago · Halacha, Holidays
This year, Shavuos in Eretz Yisrael runs straight into Shabbos, and many families naturally want to make early Shabbos after Plag HaMincha. After a long Yom Tov, especially with children at home, it sounds simple, but the Halacha is not simple at all. Can we take the Kedushas Yom Tov and turn it into early Shabbos, or is that a very lenient psak that should be avoided? In this Daily Halacha with Rabbi Yaacov Haber, we look at the question through the lens of Eruv Tavshilin, Tosefes Shabbos, the Mishna Berura, the Magen Avraham, and the historic discussion among American Poskim. Rabbi Haber explains why, although some communities relied on lenient opinions, his Kehilla will not be making early Shabbos this Shavuos. 💬 Got a question or thought about today’s halacha?
